Hello, my name is Alexandra Cole founder and creator of Stag Moon Yoga. I would be lying to you if I told you my yoga journey was something out of a storybook. To be honest, just like most people who decide to become yoga teachers, yoga became the loudest thing in the room and it grabbed my curiosity. My yoga journey started back in 2009 in college when I took it for a P.E. elective. I chose the course because it looked interesting. I didn’t really know anything about yoga let alone have an interest in yoga before that class. I used yoga as a tool to gain better posture. As a result of the class (and better posture) a door would open for me that later on in my life would become a tool to seek out a better self.

Long story short, I didn't touch the yoga mat for years. I moved to Austin, TX in 2014 where I took a few donation based classes but that fell by the wayside. It wasn’t until I was sitting in the office where I worked when I saw a yoga studio sticker on a laptop of a fellow co-worker. The feeling of curiosity came creeping back in. I checked the studio website and found out that they did yoga teacher training. It dawned on me that I could become a yoga teacher!  I had never thought that it was even possible to teach yoga. I went to the introduction meeting that very day. During the meeting, I instantly knew right then and there that I wanted to become a yoga teacher. The universe was throwing me a sign and telling me that this is what I need to be doing. I took some money out of savings and signed up for the 200hr teacher training course at Yoga Yoga. The program changed my life. It changed how I looked at the world, how I viewed myself, and most of all taught me how to become mindful of my surroundings.

Fast forward to today. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher from Yoga Yoga with additional certifications in Yoga Nidra from The Yoga Space. I quit my corporate job in Austin and moved to Portland to pursue a career in teaching yoga.  I am finding new ways to teach yoga and bring the practice to each individual. For me yoga is all about accessibility. I believe that everyone can do yoga. It is all about adapting the practice to fit the needs of the student. I love creating sequences centered around a theme and peak pose. I have a lot to learn in my yoga journey and I am excited to share with the world what I’ve learned.
