🌀How Words Influence Growth

Have you ever thought about what types of symbiotic relationships you have around you? Some examples of these types of relationships include the clownfish and sea anemone or flowers and pollinators.

When you type in the word Symbiotic into Google you get these definitions:
1. the living together in more or less intimate association or close union of two dissimilar organisms.
2. denoting a mutually beneficial relationship between different people or groups.

When I was watering my plants last week, I was thinking about the role that I play in my house plants existence. While watering them, I moved at a slower pace and became more calm. Getting into a rhythm of picking up the plant, carrying it over to the sink, watering the plant, waiting for the water to finish draining and carrying the plant back to its spot in the house. Rinse and repeat.

The relationship I have with my plants is a symbiotic one, I make sure they are cared for and in return the plants fill my home with joy and life. When I walk around my house, I naturally gravitate towards the spaces where the pants are housed. The plants require love, attention, patience, and nourishment.

There was a study done back in June 2021, it was titled: “Psychological and Physiological Effect in Plant Growth and Health by using Positive and Negative Words”. In the study, the scientists took two plants of the same species, one plant was bathed in positivity and kindness and the other plant was bathed in negativity and anger. The scientists wanted to measure the growth rates of how the plants did in those two different environments. The conclusion the scientist came to was that the power of the words spoken to the plant affected how they grew and interacted with their environments.

Just like in the study with the plants, how we talk to ourselves plays a big role in our human experience.. It’s so easy to fall into a negative mindset. Take a moment to think about how you talk to yourself on an average day, there is no wrong answer. With everything going on in the world, it takes a lot of work to have a positive mindset.

Everyday is different and someday’s are harder than others, when that happens remember to be kind to yourself and honor those emotions. It’s not easy being a human on this rock floating in space.
