Prāṇa Vāyu: Arriving at the In-Breath

Happy Solstice!

We have reached the half way point of the year from the Winter Solstice. I wanted to check in, see how everyone is doing. Take a moment to do a check in with yourself and how the last six months have progressed. Look back at the goals and dreams you set for yourself either at the Solstice or New Years:

What has come to fruition?
What have you let go of?
What have you learned?
What has been unexpected?
What are you still motivated to do?
What would I like to happen for the rest of the year?

Officially, we have transitioned into Summer in the Northern Hemisphere or Winter in the Southern Hemisphere. I live in the Northern Hemisphere and the Summer Solstice just happened. We have entered into the start of the Yang time of year, there is the element of heat and fire. During summer months, there is a feeling of vitality and playfulness, a little bit more light, with the possibility of finding ourselves wanting to be outside more.

It feels like an upward momentum, a place where we take a deep breath and for a moment arrive in the present. In yoga philosophy, this is Prāṇa Vāyu, is a reminder that life moves in cycles and brings us back into balance. The cycles of Yin and Yang and the energy of the Masculine and the Feminine. Without the in-breath there is no out-breath.

Right now pause wherever you are
Notice you inhale and the expansion that moves throughout your body
Allow yourself to be present and be brought back into balance.
