Transformation & Rebirth: Stepping Into What You’re Becoming

Transformation: The metamorphosis  is happening and as much as we try, we can’t stay the same forever
Rebirth: occurs and it is time to step into that new period of growth.

When I think of transformation in yoga, Pranayama comes to mind. Paranayama is the way to help the body move through an asana practice with more ease. We inhale to expand and exhale to contract.

Prana = breath, life force
ayama = suspension of breath.

When practicing Box Breathing, the breath is held in suspension twice. At the bottom of the exhale or the top of the inhale. This creates a rhythmic pattern and where the transformation starts to occur.

To practice Box Breathing:

1. Find a comfortable seat or lie down

2. Close down your eyes (if it’s safe to do so)
3. Inhale for a count of 4

4. Hold that inhale for a count of 4

5. Exhale slowly for a count of 4

6. Hold that exhale for a count of 4

7. Repeat

Do this for 3 to 4 rounds. After you’ve completed the rounds pause and notice how you are feeling in the present moment.

In the Chinese Zodiac, we are in the year of the Snake.

In Numerology the number 9 is about cycles ending, transformation, reflection. If you add up 2025, 2+0+2+5 = 9. As a collective, we are in a 9 year. This year coincides with The Hermit Tarot card. In the Major Arcana, this card is number 9.

The hermit is a card that depicts a man standing in the snow at the top of a mountain holding a lantern. This card is all about, turning inwards, meditating, solitude, and surrender to the unknown.

From the Raider Write Smith Tarot Deck

Think back to the beginning of the year.
What has shifted in your life?
Where can you see transformation happening?
What new opportunities or path ways have presented itself to you.

Whatever has shifted for you this year, take a moment to notice how you have shifted and transformed and how far you have come.
